Article of 01.06.2010
Lippstadt, April 2010. With 24,000 items, 5,400 employees and 900 million euros sales volume in the fiscal year 2008/09, Hella currently has one of the largest trading organisations in the world for vehicle parts, accessories, diagnostics and services, with its own sales companies and selected partners in more than 100 countries. The focus of the Hella aftermarket range is on products from the four main areas of expertise lighting, electrics, electronics and thermal management. Customers include the vehicle parts aftermarket, garages and manufacturers of special vehicles. Hella guarantees its customers optimum availability of goods thanks to a global, high-quality logistics network.
Hella mainly procures spare parts and accessory products for the aftermarket business from three sources: On the one hand, the Business Division "Aftermarket & Special OE" has its own production facilities which manufacture products specifically for aftermarket business. On the other hand, Hella cooperates with renowned parts manufacturers, who have their own products sold to the aftermarket through the established Hella network. Finally, Hella's aftermarket business benefits from the original equipment activities of the two Business Divisions "Light" and "Electronics". Hella is continually expanding its range of products and services to be able to keep up with the market dynamics on the aftermarket and growing customer requirements. The Hella product range grew by 8,000 products between 2006 and 2010 alone, for example.
Alongside its pronounced product expertise, Hella mainly stands out on account of high service competence. This is particularly reflected in effective sales support and in competent technical services for the aftermarket and garages. Thus, for example, more than 10,000 participants received training by Hella in 2009 in its technical training centres, and around 50,000 inquiries were answered through the Hella hotline. In addition, more than 4,000 independent garages throughout Europe are now part of the exclusive circle of "Hella Service Partners" - one of the most successful detailed garage concepts in Europe.
Together with Hella Gutmann Solutions, Hella has particularly extended its own garage expertise over the past few years. Today, the partners are among the leading suppliers who can cover the complete garage process from vehicle identification, diagnosis, spare parts identification and ordering as well as repairs by respective products and services from a single source. This range is to be continually expanded in the course of the next few years. As is business with the manufacturers of special vehicles such as agricultural and construction machinery, buses, caravans or trailers. Here, Hella wants to use the trend towards LED technology in particular to win further market shares with innovative products on this basis.
