Comprehensive garage expertise from a single source
Hella and Hella Gutmann Solutions with a full service package for garages: from
vehicle identification and diagnosis through to spare parts identification and
orders
Article of 10.06.2010
Lippstadt, June 2010. Today, garages are increasingly facing
a problem: in view of the increasing complexity of vehicle technology, modern
vehicles can hardly be repaired without electronic fault memory or control unit
readout. One of Hella's and Hella Gutmann Solutions' main concerns is to offer
garages a full service package for fast and safe repairs. Thus both partners have
comprehensive products and services available for vehicle identification, diagnosis,
spare parts identification and orders as well as repairs. Professional training,
a technical hotline and technical information sheets - prepared by experts with
years of professional experience - provide solid, basic knowledge, as well as
helping directly with concrete repair cases. The full service package is rounded
off by attractive equipment financing possibilities. Hella's and Hella Gutmann
Solutions' already strong market position in Germany and other key European markets
is being continually extended on the basis of this comprehensive garage expertise.
With the mega macs family Hella Gutmann Solutions supplies a comprehensive range
of cross-brand diagnostic devices for passenger cars. The motorbike diagnostic
device mo macs 50 meets growing demand for motorbike diagnosis. According to their
areas of application as first or second devices in garages, car dealerships, body
and paint shops, the mega macs devices differ in size and equipment scope, with
more or less integrated measuring technology - such as oscilloscope or multimeter
with snapshot function. Scopes such as reading or deleting fault codes, service
reset, representation of all parameters of individual vehicle systems, basic settings,
coding of components and adjusting element tests are part of the standard range
of functions provided by all devices. All diagnostic devices - from the
small mega macs 42 through to the large classic version mega macs 55 - rely
on the same software for communication with the vehicle control units. Hella Gutmann
provides software updates several times a year for users to keep this software
up-to-date. The software contains detailed data for almost all vehicle models
from more than 40 brands. One practical additional benefit within the context
of troubleshooting through to repairs is that the devices can access the Hella
Gutmann database directly. Thanks to solid hardware with cutting-edge technology
- on the basis of embedded systems - the diagnostic devices from Hella
Gutmann also have an extremely long service life, making them a reliable partner
for day-to-day garage use.
The diagnostic device from Hella Gutmann Solutions identifies the faulty part
concerned on the basis of vehicle type and additional component parameters. This
information is then used for unambiguous spare part identification in electronic
catalogue systems. The part numbers can then be directly imported into wholesalers'
respective information systems. Through these systems, the garage can request
availability and order the spare parts required. This makes work fast and safe,
and reduces process expenditure: wrong orders are avoided and customer service
further improved. The high quality of the Hella data input - strictly according
to the TecDoc standard - ensures a continuous data flow. With more than
950,000 catalogue users around the world, TecDoc is the basis for safe part identification
on the independent aftermarket. Users find their market-specific vehicle fleet
and country-specific circumstances mapped - both in Europe and now in the
USA, China and Australia too. On account of the standardised input of more than
200 part manufacturers, the aftermarket can integrate product and vehicle usage
data from the automotive supplier industry into their own systems without any
problems.
For the repairs themselves, Hella has more than 500 garage devices to offer -
with products ranging from hand-held lamps and battery testers through beamsetters
to the new air-conditioning service unit Hella ACTT 200. In the case of this newly
developed air-conditioning service device, particular attention was paid to precision,
convenience and simple handling. As a result it can be integrated efficiently
in garage procedures, works fully automatically and is conform to SAE J2788.
In addition, comprehensive training possibilities are available for garages and
wholesalers: All about diagnosis with Hella Gutmann devices in Breisach, and about
general technical subjects at Hella. The Hella Gutmann Training Centre is equipped
with more than 30 vehicles and eight motorbikes. About 2,000 garage mechanics
are trained here every year. Hella already has training centres in eight European
countries, where more than 10,000 participants per year are trained on more than
500 different subjects. New in the range is competence training for air-conditioning
systems, with which Hella provides garage with the training prescribed by legislation.
Training at the Training Centres is supplemented by free online training. Six
modules from the main Hella areas of expertise are offered here - with a
further three to follow shortly (including the module for hybrid technology).
All learning modules are available in eleven languages.
In 16 countries, Hella offers garages, wholesalers and consumers more than 130
technical basic information sheets, more than 1,000 vehicle-specific information
sheets as well as an additional 8,000 installation instructions and 20 comprehensive
documents containing technical basics free of charge. Hella Gutmann provides its
customers technical information through "Gutmann Online" in Germany,
Austria and Switzerland and through "HSG-Data" in other countries:
For example on the subjects of axle measurement, timing chain replacement, service
display, maintenance plans, repair times, fault codes, repairs, engine control
systems, airbags, ABS, thermal management, lighting and circuit diagrams.
Market surveys show again and again that diagnostic devices only provide the assistance
hoped for when they are combined with a really competent hotline that is easy
to access. Hella Gutmann Solutions technical hotline is recognised as one of the
best hotlines on the market by garages and wholesalers, and offers its customers
cross-brand repair assistance. Around 1,500 callers a day use help from 45 master
vehicle mechanics, for example, who can accompany the repair right through to
the final problem solution if necessary. To supplement this, Hella offers free
support for questions related to products and vehicle systems. There are around
50 people responsible for the hotline around the world. Around 50,000 questions
are answered through it every year. From these questions and answers, Hella generates
a continually growing knowledge database as the basis for technical information
and basic documentations.
Diagnostic devices from Hella Gutmann Solutions and garage products from Hella
can be purchased without tying up too much capital at once through device financing
models. This possibility has been available for a long time from Hella Gutmann
Solutions in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and is now being extended to cover
other European countries. Initially, the offer applies to the vehicle diagnostic
devices mega macs 55, mega macs 50, mega macs 42 as well as the motorbike diagnostic
device mo macs 50 from Hella Gutmann Solutions, and for the Hella air-conditioning
servicing device ACTT 200. The contractual period is 36 or 60 months (for the
mega macs 42 there is only a period of 36 months available). The devices become
the property of the garage when the last instalment is paid. The diagnostic devices
are offered with additional options such as software updates, technical data and
hotline support, depending on the specific country. Extension of the statutory
manufacturer's warranty is also possible within the context of the contractual
period. The offers for the vehicle and motorbike diagnostic devices from Hella
Gutmann Solutions will apply from May 2010 in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg;
this will be followed by successive further European countries. The already existing
offers available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will remain unchanged, of
course.
